Marketing &
Organizational Development

As 1st Vice-President, Penny will oversee Marketing and Organizational Development for the IFRW. She  brings almost two decades of media experience to the position and is the recipient of numerous awards for her investigative pieces and feature stories. Penny left the newspaper business in 2005, and is now a business intelligence analyst for a northern Illinois energy company.

 

Penny has left an indelible mark on the Hispanic community across northern Illinois, having helped more than a thousand immigrants navigate the process to US citizenship. She served as biographer for the Aurora Hispanic Pioneers Breakfast for three of the last five years, which highlights the roles Hispanics have played in shaping Aurora’s history.

 

Penny has served on the executive board of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of Illinois. She is treasurer of the Kane County chapter of the RNHA, a board member of the Aurora Republican Women’s Organization, and secretary of the Aurora Township Republicans.  She is also editor of The Trunk, a bi-monthly newsletter focusing on Republican events in Kane County.

 

Penny volunteered for the McCain-Illinois campaign, and traveled to Minnesota as an alternate delegate to the Republican National Convention in 2008. She attended the Leadership Institute's campaign school in Washington, DC, in 2007, and was selected as an alternate delegate to the 2009 NFRW convention in Orlando.
