WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS?

The IFRW Board of Directors (BOD) is essential to the effective operation of the state organization and has several roles and responsibilities outlined by the IFRW Bylaws:

IFRW Bylaws, Article VII, Section 2:

Duties of the  IFRW Board of Directors shall be to:

  A.  Act as the governing body of the IFRW at the Biennial Conventions and meetings of the Board of Directors;

  B.  Adopt the IFRW annual budget;

  C.  Elect a member from each District for the Nominating Committee at the first IFRW conference held

        in the calendar year in which the IFRW Biennial Convention is held;

  D.  Elect delegates and alternates at large to the NFRW Biennial Convention at the meeting prior to the Convention.

WHEN DOES THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEET?

The IFRW hosts two BOD meetings each year, one in the spring and one in the fall.  Most meetings are held in the central Illinois area.

The IFRW Bylaws mandate that BOD members be notified of an upcoming BOD meeting at least 30 days in advance.

BOD members come together at these meetings to conduct important organizational business and plan the future of the IFRW.

In addition, attendees have the opportunity to:

  • Hear from and engage with elected officials, party representatives, political experts and other state/nationally-recognized leaders;

  • Participate in related events such as educational workshop sessions, receptions and tours;

  • Attend Legislative Day in Springfield; and

  • Network with Republican women across the state.

 

WHO ARE THE VOTING MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS?

According to the IFRW Bylaws, Article VII, Section 1(A) Composition of the Board of Directors:

  • Members of the Executive Committee

  • Standing Committee Chairs

  • Local Club Presidents

The voting body of the IFRW Board of Directors shall be the elected officers, the president of each local club, the chairmen of the standing committees, and the immediate past President of the IFRW.

WHAT ARE MY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS A LOCAL CLUB PRESIDENT? 

As a Local Club President, you should attend the following:

  • All IFRW Board of Directors Meetings

  • Local Club Presidents Meeting:  This meeting is conducted by the IFRW President at the Spring and Fall Conferences.
